Overall Learning Objectives:
By the end of this series, participants will be able to:
- Analyze complex clinical cases in sport and exercise medicine by applying current best practices and evidence-informed approaches discussed during rounds.
- Compare and contrast diagnostic and treatment strategies used by peers in various sport medicine settings, identifying opportunities to adapt or improve their own clinical approach.
- Integrate insights from colleagues’ experiences into their daily clinical practice, particularly in areas involving interdisciplinary care, athlete management, and return-to-play decision-making.

Session 1 – Sport medicine tips from those who’ve been there

Dr. Diane Lambert, MD, Dip. Sport Med., Sport Medicine Family Physician
- Diane Lambert, MD, is a long term CASEM Member from Quebec city and has a world of Sports Medicine family medicine experience with different populations. Teacher, medical coverage of international sporting events and conference organizer are also her strengths.
Dr. Bruce Davidson, MD, CCFP (EM, SEM), Dip. Sport Med., Emergency Sport Medicine Physician
- Bruce Davidson is a well know CASEM member. His involvement in the many committees especially the Team Physician courses. His involvement with Cycling, and Para Sports is legendary.

Dr. Bob Brock, MD, FRCPC, Dip. Sport Med., Orthopedic Sport Medicine Physician
- Bob Brock had run a drop-in Sport Med clinic for 30 years. This catered to all ages and levels of physical activity. His Community based Orthopaedic Practice spanned 45 years. Teaching family practice residents was a focus.
Session 2 –Sideline to Finish Line: Real-World Cases & Practical Pearls in Para & Adaptive Athlete Care

- Describe the unique medical, biomechanical, and functional considerations in the assessment and treatment of para and adaptive athletes.
- Adapt existing clinical assessment tools and treatment plans to meet the individualized needs of para-athletes in a sport context.
- Recognize the interdisciplinary care requirements and communication strategies needed when supporting athletes with disabilities.
Session 3 – Mental Health Sport Medicine

- Identify common mental health concerns encountered in sport settings, including stress, burnout, and performance-related anxiety.
- Integrate mental health screening and referral processes into their clinical workflows in a sport medicine setting.
- Demonstrate effective communication strategies for supporting athlete mental well-being while maintaining appropriate boundaries and roles.
Session 4 – Pediatrics Sport Medicine

- Recognize key differences in injury patterns, growth-related concerns, and developmental considerations in pediatric and adolescent athletes.
- Apply age-appropriate assessment and management strategies for common sport injuries in youth populations.
- Discuss return-to-play criteria and communication strategies with young athletes, parents, and coaches.
Session 5 – Endurance Sport Medicine
Tuesday, May 26, 2026 – 7:30 pm ET

- Analyze common clinical presentations and performance issues unique to endurance athletes (e.g., RED-S, overuse injuries, hydration/electrolyte imbalance).
- Design evidence-informed management plans that support long-term performance and recovery in endurance sport participants.
- Evaluate training and recovery data (where available) to inform sport-specific decision-making for endurance athletes.
Session 6 – Team Physician Sport Medicine
Tuesday, September 2026 – 7:3o pm ET
- Define the roles and responsibilities of a team physician in various competitive sport contexts.
- Demonstrate practical strategies for sideline management, acute injury decision-making, and return-to-play protocols.
- Describe best practices for collaboration with coaches, athletic therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure athlete-centered care.
