Community Sport Medicine Physician of the Year

Dr. Chris Beavington
This award recognizes a physician who provides outstanding service to their local sport and exercise medicine community. Dr. Chris Beavington is recognized for outstanding service to the local sport and exercise medicine community. His dedication to athlete care, leadership in sports medicine education, and contributions to advancing the field have had a lasting impact on patients and colleagues alike. He has strengthened the sport medicine community in Northern Alberta and beyond through innovative approaches to healthcare delivery and a strong commitment to improving musculoskeletal health. Through extensive volunteer service, he has supported athletes, enhanced patient care, and played an important role in advancing the recognition of Sport and Exercise Medicine as a specialty in Alberta. His commitment to mentoring the next generation of physicians is widely admired, and we are pleased to acknowledge his exceptional contributions.
The Medal of Service Award

Dr. Lindsay Bradley
This annual award celebrates individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of sport and exercise medicine in Canada. This annual award recognizes individuals who have made an exceptional and lasting contribution to the advancement of sport and exercise medicine in Canada. Through outstanding leadership, mentorship, and dedication, Lindsay has elevated standards of care, inspired colleagues, and reinforced the importance of community engagement across every level and category of sport. Her work in sport medicine has spanned grassroots participation to international competition, consistently reflecting a commitment to athlete-centered care and inclusivity in sport. As Program Director of the Sport and Exercise Medicine Program and Chair of CASEM’s PGME Committee, she has played a pivotal role in advancing educational programs to ensure they remain progressive, responsive, and at the forefront of the field. In addition, through leadership within CASEM and her provincial association, Lindsay has championed continuing professional development and para-sport initiatives while contributing to countless sporting events across Canada.
Life Member Award

Dr. Kent Pottle
This award honours a physician whose longstanding service and leadership have had a transformative impact on CASEM and the field of sport and exercise medicine. Since earning his diploma in 1993, Kent Pottle has demonstrated exceptional leadership, mentorship, and dedication to advancing sport and exercise medicine in Canada. His leadership has been pivotal in establishing CASEM as the preeminent voice for sport and exercise medicine in Canada. As CASEM President from 2007–2008 and Chief Examiner/Chair of the CASEM Credentials Committee from 2020-2023, he has helped shape the organization’s growth and uphold the high standards of certification within the profession. Beyond CASEM, Kent has served as a trusted team physician for numerous sporting events in Halifax and across Canada, while mentoring countless colleagues and trainees throughout his career, leaving an indelible mark on all who have had the privilege of working with him.
Educator/Mentor Award

Dr. Diane Lambert
This award recognizes outstanding contributions to teaching, mentoring, and leadership in the field of Sport and Exercise Medicine in Canada. Since earning her Diploma in 1998, Dr. Diane Lambert’s mentorship of early-career SEM physicians in Québec has been truly transformative. Her longstanding service to CASEM has played a vital role in upholding the high standards of the certification process through her work on the CASEM Credentials Committee and her continued dedication as an examiner and exceptional SP trainer. Through her leadership within the provincial association and her instrumental role in the development of the PGY3 SEM program at Université Laval, she has profoundly influenced the training and career development of emerging SEM physicians. At a time when early-career primary care requirements can limit SEM practice, she has been a strong advocate and mentor, helping to address barriers and inform important policy changes. Dr. Lambert’s career-long commitment to education and mentorship in Sport and Exercise Medicine is truly exceptional, and we are honoured to recognize her outstanding contributions.
